4 Reasons to Travel at Any Age

By July 11, 2017February 26th, 2019No Comments

From 18 months to 100 years, people are constantly leaving their comfort zones and setting out to try new things. Remember: traveling isn’t always a vacation, it can be hard work to make it happen, and you might not be lying on the beach all day. But to leave ‘home’ once in a while, whether near or far, can be a wonderful way to expand the mind and live more fully.

Anything Can Change

Of course we all want to be secure. We want to have enough time, enough money, and enough bravery to make our dreams come true. We do things like take advantage of re-growth treatments for our hair, or spend endless hours at the gym to stay fit. These things we do right now are for the future, so why not invest the time into making memories too? Trips can be just as important as physical self-preservation, keeping your mind and perspective on the world fresh and fun.

The World is Multi-Generational

Traveling can create the opportunity to interact with people of different ages and social structures, which is a great thing for people in retirement or those isolated only among 20-something university students. We’ve met more people traveling of all ages, heard their stories and had a blast breaking the norms of typical friendships. I hope this continues to evolve each decade I age into!

Your Time, Your Style

You can travel in luxury young and try hostels when you’re going gray – it doesn’t matter. Whatever your style and whatever your age, live it authentically. I’m in my 30s and just booked my first design hostel experience because I simply wanted to! And I also valued splashing out at some high-end resorts in the past during my twenties because I felt it was worth the value. You do you.

You Can Bring Anyone Along

The kids, your adult parents, your younger cousins or your grandma who’s able – they all love to travel, I promise! Traveling in packs can allow people of all ages explore the world together. Have your parents come along to watch the kids once in a while, or introduce your mum to Europe for the first time as a duo. If you’re willing to go with the flow a bit more, having a group holiday or trip is the best way to include all ages without the stress of the unknown or one person planning everything.

How old were you when you first left the country? Or your hometown? Have you ever thought “I’m too old for this trip!” or “I’m too young to travel!”?
